As 40 Days for Life approaches, we are readying our hearts to be united with you in prayer and fasting for an end to abortion. 40 Days for Life is a light in the darkness. Many women tempted to abortion have received the grace to give life to their children from your peaceful witness, sidewalk counseling, prayers, and fasting. On behalf of those women with whom we have the privilege to live and serve, we thank you.

We leave you with a message from Bishop Peter J. Byrne, capturing the importance of this upcoming 40 Days for Life Campaign in our Archdiocese at this time.  

After the premier of the movie Unplanned this Spring—depicting the conversion story of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood manager—and in the aftermath of the devastating law permitting abortions until the moment of birth, many parishioners have expressed a desire to pray and witness to the sanctity of human life outside abortion clinics. I am inspired by the zeal of those moved to prayer because of the contempt for human life within our culture. As the Auxiliary Bishop charged with overseeing pro-life initiatives, I am writing to ask you to encourage that zeal within your parishes through an important initiative within the archdiocese:

40 Days for Life
September 25 - November 3, 2019

40 Days for Life consists of 40 days of prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil at abortion facilities. Why participate? Because it works. According to Abby Johnson, “When [pro-life] people show up outside the clinic, the no-show rate goes up to almost 75%.” Many abortion-minded women in our archdiocese have turned around from abortion facilities during 40 Days for Life thanks to parishioners witnessing outside the clinics and services provided by the Sisters of Life and our pregnancy centers.

I ask for your renewed effort in making 40 Days for Life and pro-life intentions a focus of your parish prayers and works of mercy this October, when we celebrate Respect Life Month together as a Church. I am most grateful for your attention to this matter.

The KICKOFF RALLY for the Spring 2014 White Plains 40 Days for Life Campaign will take place on Saturday, March 1, at 2pm.  The RALLY will take place at the DOT TRIANGLE located at the intersection of Tarrytown Road and the eastbound Exit 5 off-ramp from Highway 287.  It is one block away, towards the Westchester County Center, from the Greenburgh Planned Parenthood.  Parking is available in the Greenburgh Town Court parking lot across the street at 188 Tarrytown Road.

We at EMC invite you, starting today, September 25th, through November 3rd, to attend our Fall New York City 40 Days for Life campaigns, at Dr. Emily's abortion mill in the South Bronx or at Planned Parenthood-NYC on Bleeker St. and Mott St in Manhattan.

 

EMC FrontLine's outreach to women in pregnancy begins its 29th year of operation this October 2nd.

 

In that time we have been privileged to save over 42,000 girls and women from abortion. That's over 42,000 babies saved!

Dear 40 Days for Lifer,

Welcome to September, the month for the start of the Fall 2013 40 Days for Life Campaign!  We are so privileged to be part of this peaceful, prayerful – and proven effective – pro-life campaign that has already been embraced by more than half a million people worldwide, saved 7,536 lives from abortion, led to the conversion of 83 abortion workers, and seen 39 abortion facilities close.  Please God our local Planned Parenthood will be the next one to close!

This fall's campaign will kickoff with a prayer rally on Sunday, September 22, at 3pm in front of the Planned Parenthood at 175 Tarrytown Road in Greenburgh.  Parking is available along Prospect Road in front of the facility or across the road in the Town Court parking lot.  

The campaign itself will run 7:30am to 7:30pm every day from Wednesday, September 25 through Sunday, November 3.  We need lots of volunteers to keep vigil at the Planned Parenthood in hourly intervals.  

The first thing I need you to do is to go to the online vigil calendar, create a New User logon ID, enter your contact information and sign the Statement of Peace.

IMPORTANT: You need to do this even if you had previously signed up because the user list has been deleted.  

Then you can start signing up for calendar slots beginning with the first week of the 40-day vigil.  Red slots on the calendar mean there are no volunteers signed up yet, yellow means 1 volunteer and green means two or more volunteers.  If you are not comfortable being alone, then look for yellow or green slots, otherwise pick a red slot to maximize vigil coverage.  

Please let me know if you are willing to help out in one of the following ways:

1.  Approach your pastor about promoting the campaign in your church via bulletin and/or pulpit announcements.  

2.  Be a shift captain at the Planned Parenthood vigil.

3.  Make phone calls to volunteers.

40 Days for Life is a peaceful, highly-focused, non-denominational, pro-life initiative that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil at abortion facilities, and grassroots educational outreach.  The Spring 2013 Campaign begins February 13 and continues through March 24. The local campaign will feature a peaceful 40-day prayer vigil in the public right-of-way outside Planned Parenthood at 175 Tarrytown Road in Greenburgh.

And now, with a kickoff Rally set for Saturday, September 22nd at the Greenburgh Planned Parenthood - here's the info - the site is easily accessible

... on Saturday, September 22 from 2:30pm to 4pm.  The location is the DOT triangle 2 blocks east of the Planned Parenthood at 175 Tarrytown Road, White Plains (get directions from Google or Bing, not Mapquest which is incorrect). Parking is along the right side of Prospect Avenue (one-way), up the hill on Greenvale Circle, or across the street in the Greenburgh Town Court parking lot.

Come and join together with your fellow vigil volunteers to kick off this historic event!  Also pick up signs and receive valuable information about the 40-day vigil.

White Plains, NY – “The nation’s most innovative, peaceful pro-life prayer outreach is coming to White Plains,” said Gerald Yeung, who is coordinating the area’s 40 Days for Life campaign. “We are eager to join together with people of faith and conscience from cities from coast to coast – and beyond – to pray for an end to abortion.”

40 Days for Life begins September 26 and continues through November 4. “Abortion takes a tremendous toll in our city,” said Yeung, “but many people aren’t even aware of it. We will share the facts with as many people as possible during the 40-day campaign,” Yeung said.

... Last week I showed you pictures of the 40 Days
for Life vigil in Reno, Nevada -- where the
abortionist uses a sprinkler system to soak the
people praying outside his fence.

Despite this aggressive hostility, we just received an
incredible report from that location.

A woman driving out of the abortion center's parking
lot stopped to ask one of the local volunteer for her
phone number. Shortly after, the volunteer received
a text message.

This text sums up what 40 Days for Life is about --
and the impact a local vigil can have.

Here is the exact text message:


   I just wanted to send you guys a text to let you
   know that what you do out there does make a
   difference.

   When I went to that abortion clinic last week to
   drop off my money to terminate my pregnancy, I saw
   people standing out there with signs. I didn’t
   expect to see that and part of me felt ashamed.

   I drove through the gates anyway and went inside,
   gave them my money and made an appointment for
   2:30pm today.

   As I was driving away I couldn’t help but think
   that maybe there was another way. All this week I
   thought and prayed about it and I realized in my
   heart what the right thing to do was.

   I can’t help but think, that had you guys not been
   there that day to remind me that I had another
   choice, that maybe one more baby would have died
   today.

   Don’t stop what you’re doing. It matters. It did
   to me. From the blonde lady in the white SUV who
   picked up her money instead of aborting her baby
   today.

WOW.
