Congress: In Iowa, Pro-life woman physician defeats proabortion Democrat by six votes

A state board certified Iowa Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks as the representative-elect of Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District over Rita Hart, to replace a retiring Democrat who supports abortion.

All 24 counties conducted a recount of results in Iowa’s Second Congressional District and the official numbers following the recount show Mariannette Miller-Meeks winning over Rita Hart by six votes, 196,964-196,958. It’s the closest race in the country, and a legal challenge to the results is likely.

The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) celebrated the victory and informed LifeNews.com that Miller-Meeks is the 18th new pro-life woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives this year, joining 11 returning incumbents.

Of the 18 newly-elected women, ten have flipped seats formerly held by pro-abortion Democrats.

“A record 29 pro-life women will serve in the House of Representatives in the next Congress: continued proof that life is winning in America,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “These pro-life champions will serve as a brick wall against the radical pro-abortion agenda of Speaker Pelosi and pro-abortion Democrats dead set on taking out even modest protections for pro-life Americans such as the Hyde Amendment and similar legacy riders.“The exponential growth of pro-life women in the House is reflective of the fact that life has gone from being viewed as a political problem to a winning issue. These women have already done important work to expose the extremism of their radical pro-abortion opponents and we look forward to working alongside them to depend lifesaving law and policy in Congress.”

Of course, still horrendous and every abortion is one too many. However, at least moving in the right direction.

More babies Saved from Abortion Than Ever

The new CDC report covers the year 2018 and confirms America’s abortion decline continues. The report indicates the number of babies killed in abortions has declined 1.4% from 2016-2018 and the abortion rate — the percentage of women having an abortion or choosing life for their baby — has declined 2.% as more women opt against abortion.

The abortion decline was widespread. Not every state reports its abortion data to the CDC, but of the states that do 29 of them saw declines in their abortion rates. California, Maryland, and New Hampshire ddid not report abortion statistics to the CDC and, as a result, the actual number of babies killed in abortions is higher — usually estimated to be around 900,000 a year.

Looking at the data more historically,the number of babies killed in abortions has dropped 21.8% since 2009 and the abortion rate has declined 24.2 percent, making it clear that lifesaving efforts such as pregnancy centers across the nation have helped and supported more women as they give birth instead of having abortions. The abortion rate has declined over 50% since 1980.

 

Pro-abortion "Catholic" President Biden - culmination of the failure of the Catholic Episcopacy

A pro-abortion Catholic President was almost inevitable given the fecklessness of most and downright betrayal from some, of the Catholic Bishops (with the exception of a few Bishops). On this issue and many others - think defrocked "Cardinal" McCarrick.

A leading Catholic archbishop in the U.S. warned Joe Biden that he is creating “confusion” among Catholics about abortion and the sanctity of human life. The statement came Tuesday from Los Angeles Archbishop José Gomez, the president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, during an online meeting of the bishops, according to the National Catholic Reporter.

Gomez said Biden’s pro-abortion position creates a “difficult and complex situation” for Catholic leaders, the report states.

Sorry it's not difficult or complex. Quite straightforward really.

“When politicians who profess the Catholic faith support [abortion], there are additional problems,” the archbishop said. “Among other things, it creates confusion among the faithful about what the Catholic Church actually teaches on these questions.”

Gomez said the USCCB plans to form a working group, led by Detroit Archbishop Allen Vigneron, to explore the problem in more depth.

"Additional problems ... A working group... to explore the problem in more depth"? They have had 45 years to confront pro-abortion Catholic politicians. Disgraceful.

Biden’s pro-abortion agenda includes advocating for abortions without limits and forcing taxpayers to fund them. He also opposes religious freedom measures that protect Catholic charities like the Little Sisters of the Poor, which serves the poor and elderly.

Biden said he plans to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law and appoint U.S. Supreme Court justices who will support abortion on demand. He also said he would fight to end the Hyde Amendment and force taxpayers to pay for elective abortions – which could lead to 60,000 more unborn babies’ deaths to abortion each year.

In April, Biden went so far as to call the killing of unborn babies an “essential medical service” during the coronavirus pandemic. His health care plan would expand abortions as well by forcing insurance companies to cover abortions as “essential” health care under Obamacare.

He also promised to undo all of Trump’s progress for life, including restoring funding to the billion-dollar abortion chain Planned Parenthood.

On religious freedom, Biden’s position also is deeply troubling. Biden has endorsed anti-religious freedom policies that would force nuns, religious charities and hospitals to violate their deeply-held beliefs by funding the killing of unborn babies in abortions and potentially even by helping to facilitate their deaths.

So they need a working group to explore the problem. Double disgraceful.
