In Washington DC, outside - but on public sidewalk - of Planned Parenthood. Attached are two videos and the statement from the email we received this morning from Students for Life of America (SFLA). If you read the textofr the email, you'll see that the students - young man and a woman - had a permit and "followed all the rules" but were arrested anyway.
And a second video with the students explaining what they were doing before they started chalking.
Here's the statement from SFLA -
Two of our pro-life students were ARRESTED in Washington, D.C. early this morning.
Their crime?
Writing “BLACK PREBORN LIVES MATTER” in chalk on a public sidewalk in front of the Planned Parenthood abortion facility.
As you likely know, the mayor of Washington, D.C. recently ordered BLACK LIVES MATTER be painted on a public street near the White House. Protesters then added the message “DEFUND THE POLICE” next to the city-sanctioned mural.
After talking with our lawyers, we know that their actions opened up city streets for painting political messages and that they must give equal access to groups like Students for Life.
So we sent a letter (that thousands of our supporters like you signed) to the mayor insisting she allow us to paint our life-affirming message on the streets of Washington, D.C. too.
We worked with the police. We purchased the type of paint, temporary paint, they told us to get. We had our face masks on. And we even got a permit to be in front of the Planned Parenthood.
We followed all the rules.
But, when we showed up this morning, the police were waiting for us with six police cars. They told us if we painted the streets they would arrest us. So, as a backup, we decided to begin chalking our pro-life message on the public sidewalk in front of the Planned Parenthood like we do every Saturday.
They arrested our students anyway.
I’ve been on the phone with our lawyers all morning long, so forgive me for being brief.

That's absurd. nd will backfire since this will be widely publicized on at least some media. And a lawsuit v. Washington?
