A defense of civil disobedience. "An unjust law is no law at all"
An important text for all pro-lifers. It was indeed written by MLK from jail to fellow clergy "who agreed that social injustices existed but argued that the battle against racial segregation should be fought solely in the courts, not the streets. As a minister, King responded to these criticisms on religious grounds." Quote is from the wikipedia article about the letter.
On the crucial question of obeying "The Law" here is MLK's money quote:
The answer lies in the fact that there are two types of laws: just and unjust. I would be the first to advocate obeying just laws. One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. I would agree with St. Augustine that "an unjust law is no law at all."
The whole letter can be found here - "Letter from a Birmingham Jail [King, Jr.]" - and doesn't take long to read - prints out at eight pages.
“IN ORDER TO CHANGE THEM WE FIRST MUST LOVE THEM, AND THEY MUST KNOW THEY ARE LOVED” are the powerful words that come from DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING. WE will love all to LIFE and we shall overcome.
