Prolife State Senator Greg Ball term limits himself out of his seat

Air Force Academy Graduate and all-around good guy. He is a solid prolife vote in the NY State Senate.

As many know, I term limited myself in the Assembly and am proud to now follow through on that same pledge in the Senate. For 8 years I have enjoyed a tremendous opportunity to serve. Those memories and friendships will last a lifetime and I am forever grateful. As an elected official, and unlike many, I swore to make the position my full time job and to not accept outside employment. I kept my word and am proud to have done so, but now it is time to return to the private sector, and eventually, hopefully take time to raise a family.

In just 4 terms I have been through 4 general elections and 3 primaries, and I've lived a lifetime of experiences in a condensed period of time. I gave the community every ounce of energy I had, working 7 days a week. I'm proud of my record in public service and honored to have had the opportunity to shape public policy for the good, specifically for service disabled and other veterans, victims of human trafficking and domestic violence, small business owners, sportsmen, seniors, taxpayers, the special needs community and our four legged friends.

I didn't run for office to embrace the status quo or to make friends, yet I am proud to have kept my independence even while making strong friendships along the way. I genuinely believe in servant leadership and I term limited myself in the Assembly and similarly term limited myself in the Senate. Breaking that pledge was never an option and leaving this seat open two years from now, during a Presidential election where we would be hard pressed to maintain the seat, would have been selfish.

My late announcement was timed with one purpose, to keep this Senate seat in Republican control. Until a month ago, we didn't even have a replacement candidate and I was never going to walk away from my Republican conference, unless this seat was secure. With Terrence Murphy, I am now confident that we will maintain this seat not only during this election, but also for many years to come. My office will continue to provide excellent constituent and legislative work. On the campaign side, I will remain engaged from fundraising to operations for a solid Republican victory in November. It has been an exhilarating journey and I would like to thank my family, friends and supporters. And no, I am not running for County Executive, Congress or any other position. "Reproductive Health" Abortion Expansion Act killed in Senate committee - for the moment

“To say that we are taking anything back by voting against this bill, I think is a mischaracterization,” said Sen. Jack Martins, R-Nassau County. “This bill expands, it does not retract. So to vote against this bill is to vote against an expansion of abortion rights in the context of a state that approved abortion before Roe v. Wade, in a state that has the highest abortion rate in the country.”

It’s a separate bill from the 10-point Women’s Equality Agenda, which failed to get legislative approval last year. Nine of the 10 points based the Senate, but the abortion piece—a scaled-down version of the Reproductive Health Act—failed to get approval.

Westchester-Putnam Center for Life Breakfast Recap

The annual Center for Life Breakfast at the Holiday Inn in Mount Kisco on Saturday, April 26, 2014 was another uplifting opportunity to enjoy breakfast with friends, network, and become better educated about critical pro-life issues.

Stefano Gennarini, J.D., Director of the Center for Legal Studies for the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-FAM) was guest speaker on Defending Life and Family at the UN.

 To paraphrase his statistics and insights, the pro-abortion side at the UN does a lot of talking and lobbying, but the results so far in expanding abortion legally through laws and treaties in most countries have been unsuccessful. However, pro-abortion NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) and other UN activists have been successful in training and promoting "reproductive rights" purported healthcare workers who then promote abortion at a grassroots level in many underdeveloped and third world countries. Honorees that morning were Tom and Susan (Susan was unable to attend) Gmuer of the Church of St. Mary in Katonah and Eileen Peterson of Rockland Right to Life's Rachael Ministry. Both spoke eloquently and humbly about their own remarakble pro-life efforts. All who know them recognize their incalculable gifts and efforts on behalf of the dignity of all human life, especially the child in the womb and mothers in need.

Eileen Peterson spoke off the cuff, relating some moving and personal experiences with women who have had abortions.

County Legislator Michael Smith who is and who has always been a strong pro-life supporter spoke on the necessity of staying involved in the political process.
