40 Days for Life-NYC begins today! Please join us!

 

We at EMC invite you, starting today, September 25th, through November 3rd, to attend our Fall New York City 40 Days for Life campaigns, at Dr. Emily's abortion mill in the South Bronx or at Planned Parenthood-NYC on Bleeker St. and Mott St in Manhattan.

 

EMC FrontLine's outreach to women in pregnancy begins its 29th year of operation this October 2nd.

 

In that time we have been privileged to save over 42,000 girls and women from abortion. That's over 42,000 babies saved!

 

Our life-saving outreach, extends across the City of New York, in Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn, and across the country, too.

 

Our times of vigil at Dr. Emily's, at 560 Southern Blvd., at 149th St?

 

Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:30AM till 11:15AM. Wednesday and Saturday from 7:30AM till Noon.

Our need is for prayer, and public witness but please do not bring signs.

 

Remember, that we cannot do this without YOU!

 

 

Our goal?

 

 

It is to convert mothers, fathers and pedestrians to Life outside the worst abortion mill in the Bronx, where the abortion rate is over 48%, and to reach a heavy flow of "clients" at the primary Planned Parenthood in NYC (there have four sites).

Dear 40 Days for Lifer,

Welcome to September, the month for the start of the Fall 2013 40 Days for Life Campaign!  We are so privileged to be part of this peaceful, prayerful – and proven effective – pro-life campaign that has already been embraced by more than half a million people worldwide, saved 7,536 lives from abortion, led to the conversion of 83 abortion workers, and seen 39 abortion facilities close.  Please God our local Planned Parenthood will be the next one to close!

This fall's campaign will kickoff with a prayer rally on Sunday, September 22, at 3pm in front of the Planned Parenthood at 175 Tarrytown Road in Greenburgh.  Parking is available along Prospect Road in front of the facility or across the road in the Town Court parking lot.  

The campaign itself will run 7:30am to 7:30pm every day from Wednesday, September 25 through Sunday, November 3.  We need lots of volunteers to keep vigil at the Planned Parenthood in hourly intervals.  

The first thing I need you to do is to go to the online vigil calendar, create a New User logon ID, enter your contact information and sign the Statement of Peace.

IMPORTANT: You need to do this even if you had previously signed up because the user list has been deleted.  

Then you can start signing up for calendar slots beginning with the first week of the 40-day vigil.  Red slots on the calendar mean there are no volunteers signed up yet, yellow means 1 volunteer and green means two or more volunteers.  If you are not comfortable being alone, then look for yellow or green slots, otherwise pick a red slot to maximize vigil coverage.  

Please let me know if you are willing to help out in one of the following ways:

1.  Approach your pastor about promoting the campaign in your church via bulletin and/or pulpit announcements.  

2.  Be a shift captain at the Planned Parenthood vigil.

3.  Make phone calls to volunteers.

The KICKOFF RALLY for the Fall 2013 White Plains 40 Days for Life Campaign will take place at 3pm on Sunday, September 22, in front of the Planned Parenthood at 175 Tarrytown in Greenburgh.  Parking is available along Prospect Road (one-way) off of Tarrytown Road or across Tarrytown Road in the Greenburgh Town Court parking lot.

NY Times op ed: "Overpopulation is not the Problem"

NY Times of all places, has a very good deconstruction of the idea that the earth-will-run-out-of resources-too-many-people argument.

A short - 12 paragraphs - and very worthwhile read.

Overpopulation Is Not the Problem

MANY scientists believe that by transforming the earth’s natural landscapes, we are undermining the very life support systems that sustain us. Like bacteria in a petri dish, our exploding numbers are reaching the limits of a finite planet, with dire consequences. Disaster looms as humans exceed the earth’s natural carrying capacity. Clearly, this could not be sustainable.

This is nonsense. Even today, I hear some of my scientific colleagues repeat these and similar claims — often unchallenged. And once, I too believed them. Yet these claims demonstrate a profound misunderstanding of the ecology of human systems. The conditions that sustain humanity are not natural and never have been. Since prehistory, human populations have used technologies and engineered ecosystems to sustain populations well beyond the capabilities of unaltered “natural” ecosystems.
