George Muto

After a long battle with cancer, pro-life activist and organizer George Muto died on March 29th. Below is a picture of George, on his way to the 2008 March for Life. Excerpts from his obituary, are also below.

A resident of Greenwich, CT and formerly of Port Chester and Rye Brook, NY, George passed away at home on March 29th, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jenny Patafio Muto and his six children, Jennifer (Carmine) Boccarossa, Teresa (Tom) Stagg, Gina (Tom) Edwards, George (Wendy) Muto, Jr., Angela (Ken Forman) Muto, and Maria (Bill) Waterman. George cherished his eight grandchildren: David Muto, Sarah & Nicholas Stagg, Katie, Allison & Kristen Edwards and Michael & Emily Boccarossa. George was the son of Joseph Muto, who died in 1937, and Angela DiBenedetto Muto. His mother and stepfather, Sam Buffardi of New Rochelle, NY, predeceased him. Brothers Sam Buffardi and Ronald Buffardi and sister Barbara Buffardi Sinopoli survive him. George played varsity baseball at New Rochelle HS and for the Army during the Korean War. He also played semiprofessional baseball with the Harlan Kentucky Mountain League, a farm team for the Washington Senators. Following his retirement from his electrical contracting business, he joined his wife Jenny's real estate brokerage firm, Sound Shore Realty and together they sold homes from New York to Greenwich CT. However, it was his career as a professional singer that brought him and his listener's great joy. He performed with big bands and his own band throughout NY, NJ and CT. His church knew George for his dedication and many years of faithful service. He created and conducted the folk music ministry at Our Lady of Mercy Church for more than 10 years. He also began and led the Folk Music Choir at Holy Rosary Church for more than 10 years. He was an inspirational religious education teacher for hundreds of students at Our Lady of Mercy Church and Holy Rosary Church. George was very actively dedicated to Pro-Life causes and co-chaired and co-organized the weekly Pro-Life chain for many years. In lieu of flowers please contribute to Good Counsel Homes P.O.
