Proposed law would increase number of abortions in N.Y. | lohud.com | The Journal News
...The governor's bill, with the euphemistic title "Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act," could, among other things, force all hospitals, including religious hospitals, to perform abortions and force all employer insurance plans to pay for them.
This bill would repeal current law that requires doctors to perform abortions, allowing any "health-care practitioner" to perform them, and allow late-term abortions to be performed without the full complement of support facilities. RHAPP would make abortion virtually immune from any reasonable state regulation, including the right of a parent to be notified before a minor child is taken by a school nurse to have an abortion or a woman's right to be given all pertinent information before having the procedure!
The governor has called this his "choice bill"! It would enshrine abortion in our law as a "fundamental right" and legalize it through all nine months of pregnancy, for virtually any reason. However, contrary to the notion that this bill would allow "freedom of choice," RHAPP could deny freedom of choice to individuals and institutions that prefer not to support or condone killing the unborn. Yonkers' own Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins, a Democrat, has rushed to introduce this radical bill in the Senate as a payback to her pro-abortion backers.
Way to go, Alan!
