The July fourth Vigil for Life sponsored by the Rockland County Helpers of God's Precious Infants, and the Salesians, is always a fine event, and this year was no different.
Here are some pictures and commentary -
The Salesians are aiming to build a new Chapel - the old one had to be demolished - so the Vigil was held in a large tent! The second picture is an artists rendition of the to-be-built Chapel
Fr. Nicholas Callaghan of St. Catherine's gave a wonderful homily, as he compared the "culture of death" of terrorism, which wants to be loud and seen by all, with the "culture of death" of abortion in our society, which tries to remain hidden.
This statue of St. John Bosco (Don Bosco) has an inscription at the bottom that says "Anyone in trouble, is my friend." Of course he is the founder of the Salesians - here's a nice bio about him CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: St. John Bosco (Don Bosco)
A little view of some of the grounds - the Stations of the Cross, and Padre Pio statue -
So, a great way to start the July 4th holiday. Thank you Helpers, see you next year!
My daughter went for the entire program - and was very impressed! She knows I always went and prayed for her family before we had some problems here ar home, and this time she took my place - -and I'm sure we'll both go again God bless you -and speaker was wonderful, she said.
