On June 7th there was a Planned Parenthood op ed as a response to a guest column by Theresa Bonopartis in the Journal news. Theresa was writing about post abortion issues for women - physical and mental.
The Planned Parenthood representative of course denied there were any negative post abortion issues for women.
Eileen Peterson representing Rachel's Ministry rebutted this absurdity in a Journal News op ed on June 28th. An excerpt is below, but hit the link for the whole excellent column.

I write the story of our very first sufferer with her permission. Mary (not her real name) called the Rachel Ministry number (845-786-5871) wanting to know how this ministry works. Some time elapsed before she felt safe enough to share her story. Mary is a nurse and had two abortions. She was drinking heavily to numb her pain and had been trying to conceive a baby with her husband for quite some time but was unable to. She believed God was punishing her and would never again trust her with a baby. Slowly, she walked the journey and emerged free from the guilt and the self-destructive behavior. Mary told me years later that if I had not answered the phone on that day she first made the phone call, she was all set to overdose and end her pain.
Lovingly, I am writing to Jane that of all the pains a woman will suffer in her lifetime, none is as heartwrenching as an abortion(s). You can call it whatever you want, a woman's reproductive right, a woman's right to choose, but, no one can argue with the honest truth. What really happens is a baby is killed. The mother of that baby is wounded both in body and in spirit. This is true for the father, too.
A heart is beating, the baby only wants to live, and yet our society call abortion a "right" as if it were something good. Nothing could be further from the truth.
